The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that it will be difficult to find an employment beyond a laborer’s job without a basic knowledge of Information Technology within next five years and as a preparation for that situation information Technology will be added as a core subject of ordinary level examination from next year.

80% school attendance is compulsory for the students sitting for G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination from 2023

It was informed by the letter of the Secretary of Education No. ED/09/Ads(SAS)/7 dated 12.08.2022 that the confirmation of 80% attendance is not essential only for the students sitting for G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination in 2022. Accordingly, as this exception is relevant only to the students sitting for G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination in 2022, it
