Mrs. R.B.Gankewala is the Additional Secretary ( Non Academic and Combined Services)of the Ministry of Education. She is a Special Grade officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) having 20 years of service in the fields of administration and development. She has started the service as a Director of the Ministry of Health and later performed as an Assistant Secretary, Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Education. As a Class -1 officer she served in the Ministry of Finance and  Sri Lanka Customs and as a Special Grade officer she served in the State Ministry of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals and the State Ministry of Solar, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development.

Mrs. Gankewala is a Bachelor of Science graduate specialized in the field in Chemistry from University of Peradeniya and she completed her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Kelaniya and Diploma in Public Administration from Sri Lanka Institute of Development and Administration.
