The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that the aim of the Ministry of Education is to provide equal opportunities for all children and as one step of that process, by next June the schools with Advanced Level classes will be digitalized. Accordingly, the opportunities will be provided for the children to pursue their educational activities connecting directly with the new technology.
The minister stated these ideas today (05) while participating in a function at Jaffna Hindu College. Accordingly, 3000 schools with Advanced Level in this country will be digitalized and the teacher training for this purpose will be started from next March. All the relevant schools will be provided with smart interactive boards, the minister further stated. In line with this program, the computer resource centers in each education zones have been updated, the minister pointed out.
The minister reminded that he accepted the portfolio as the minister of education during a challenging period about one and half years ago when there were island wide queues for oil, power cuts, gas shortages and closure of schools and it was possible to take correct decisions within a short period of time and was able to run the school system properly. The dedication of all people is essential to develop the school system of the country and he expects to visit all regions of the country within next few weeks and sensitize all educational authorities about this, the minister further said.
The handing over of smart interactive boards to this school donated by Honorary Professor Scientist Siva Sivanadan was also happened at this occasion. Honorary Professor Siva Sivanadan, Member of Parliament Angajan Ramanadan, officers from the Ministry of Education, the Principal of Hindu College and a gathering attended to this occasion.
