The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha has been appointed to the Executive Council of the Director Board of UNESCO representing Asia Pacific region obtaining 76% high percentage 144 out of 188 countries for the period of year 2024 to 2027 and a large number of government and opposition members of parliament congratulated him on this achievement.
The leader of the opposition Mr. Sajith Premadasa congratulated him saying that Mr. Susil Premajayantha is a matured scholar to the fullest meaning of the word and this excellent victory achieved by him is not only a personal achievement for him but also a victory for the country.
The appointment to the Director Board of UNESCO is very rare and difficult achievement and having appointed to such an important position Mr. Susil Premajayantha has got an excellent opportunity to serve the Asian region as well as the entire world and on behalf of the parliament and the country, their congratulations are offered to him, said Dr. Bandula Gunawardana at this occasion.
The Member of Parliament Sudarshana Denipitiya also congratulated the Minister of Education saying that Mr. Premajayantha was appointed to the Director Board of UNESCO at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and he held the same post in the year 2008 adding a reputation to the country and he expressed his congratulations for achieving this rare achievement overcoming a large number of countries.
Several Members of Parliament including Dalus Alahapperuma and Wimal Weerawansa offered their warm congratulations to Mr. Susil Premajayantha at this occasion.
