- Priority to the skills and competencies of the children
The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute gets special place as a prominent attention is drawn to three fields of general education, higher education and technological education within the new education transformative process. The minister further said that the actions will be taken to give priority to the competencies and skills of the students. The minister said this while attending in an observation tour of that institute with a German delegation. A group of people including the Member of Parliament in Germany Mr. Peter Ramsauer and German Ambassador Holger Seubert attended in this event.
Further expressing his views there the minister said that the employments easily come to the students who follow the courses at Ceylon German Technical Training Institute that was established in this country in 1959 and the students trained here so far have been able to make their lives successful within this country and in foreign countries as well because of this training. This institution enrolls 600 students annually and that number has to be increased and he expects that the new technological knowledge of the state of Germany will be provided to us in the future also, the minister said.
The minster reminded at this occasion the unbroken friendship between Sri Lanka and Germany remaining for 70 years.
The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha and the German delegation joined in the observation tour in this institute. The Secretary of Education Mr. M.N. Ranasingha, the Chairperson of Ceylon German Technical Training Institute Mr. Suranga Mendis and The Principal of the institute Mr. Bernard Abeykoon had also attended the occasion.
