The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha while greeting for the new year and addressing the staff of the Ministry of Education stated that when a large number of public officers including the officers held the responsible executive posts went on retirement last Friday and enter into the 2023 new year with the new officers who took up the vacant posts from today, Monday, we have to overcome the challenges including the remaining issues from last year along with other challenges like climatic changes and the expectation of the majority, the change of the present system have to be done through the revolutionary educational reforming process.
At the moment, the entire world has to face extremely to the challenge of exposing to unhealthy climatic changes and the severe cold weather condition experienced by many countries at present may change in the future and we will have to confront with the opposite type of weather conditions, said the minister and further explained the necessity of doing the transformative change in education even confronting with the global issues and challenges. That transformation must not merely be limited to a replacement of people but a practical one with affordable changes starting from the administrative system. It must also be continued while maintaining the other educational activities like conducting ordinary level and advanced level examinations, the minister said.
The minister pointed out that the duties must be started dedicatedly with new portfolios and it is not sufficient to measure only the achievements of students but it is a compulsory indicator of the development of a country to measure the achievement of officers and that of politicians also, the minister emphasized.
Further expressing his views, the minister said that it is very important to incline to achieve the sustainable development goal of providing a quality education to all with the improvement of school attendance of students through generating confidence of students and parents about the quality of the teachers going to the classrooms.
The minister stated at this occasion that all must work collectively and dedicatedly different from the existed system and the results must be given to the future generation so as be happy when we look back at the year 2023 at the beginning of 2024.
