– A new private bus service named “School Service” for students and teachers to come to schools from 01st of August.
A discussion was held today (26.07.2022) at the Ministry of Education with the participation of The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha as the leader and the Chairperson of Sri Lanka Transport Board Mr. Kinsley Ranawaka, The Chairperson of Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Mr. Gemunu Wijerathna, the Sales Manager of the Petroleum Corporation Mr. S.M.C.P. Samarakoon and the Chairperson of All Island School Children Transport Association Mr. L. Malsri De Silva about the provision of transport facilities properly to the children to come to schools without much difficulty.
At this occasion the Petroleum Corporation and the Transport Board have expressed their consent to provide fuel for school vans and buses from the nearest depot without any difficulty according to a proper method and to provide facilities necessary for it.
Accordingly, the necessary quantity of fuel will be issued by the depots under a proper management two days a week (Wednesday and Saturday).
A new bus service named ‘School Service’ will be started from 01st of August and these busses will operate two turns per day displaying the relevant names of the schools on the name boards. The Chairperson of the Private Bus Owners’ Association Mr. Gemunu Wijesooriya has agreed to provide these buses and the teachers and the students can use this transport service without much difficulty from 01st of August.
This new arrangement prepared for providing fuel conveniently has been praised by the associations of bus operators and it was agreed at this occasion to extend the support of all for this program.
