There was a meeting between the Ambassador of Korea Mr. Santush Woonjin Jeong and The Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardana at Isurupaya, ministry of education on 28.09.2021.
Consent was expressed at this occasion to provide for the development of education and higher education in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the willingness to provide aids to the government of Sri Lanka for the development in renewable energy, Mathematics and language development, technology development and human resources was expressed.
A project named “Building a better physical environment for primary and secondary education” is also implemented for Kilinochchi district under Korean assistance and it is expected to implement a number of activities under this program such as starting 04 model schools for teacher training and extra-curricular activities, building and renovation of classrooms, providing necessary equipment for special education units in the schools, providing audio and visual aids to the teachers and schools, implementing programs for capacity building of teachers and principals and providing necessary facilities for improving social unity etc.
Furthermore, the attention has been drawn to establish a new national education college for technology education in this country.
