The Secretary of the Ministry of Education Professor Kapila Perera said that The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris has decided to start a program for providing new school textbooks to the children who lost their books due to bad weather conditions prevailing on the island. The Secretary stated this while addressing the media on 08.06.2021 in Colombo. When those children inform the principal of their school, he will inform the ministry of education through the divisional and zonal directors of education.
Further expressing his ideas he said the time that had been given to submit the applications for admission of the children to grade one in 2022 has been extended for another one month from 30th June 2021 due to the prevailing covid pandemic situation.
