The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris said that the government decided not to reopen all the schools, preschools, Pirivenas, universities and private tuition classes until further notice because of the covid risk prevailing in the country.
The minister further stated that even though the present government has a strong desire to continue the educational activities of the children in this country, this decision was taken since the priority has to be given to the health protection and the safety of the children under the prevailing risky situation. The actions will be taken to reopen the schools after regaining the normal situation. The minister further said that the actions will be taken to inform the people about it at least three days before the reopening of those institutions for the children.
