–To digitalize 3000 schools with advanced level subject stream

Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that the vouchers to the value of three thousand rupees will be offered to eight hundred thousand school children for purchasing footwear within next tow three weeks. This payment given to the children with economic difficulties will be further increased in 2024, the minister said.
The minister further said that from the year 2024, the educational transformative changes will be implemented first doing the administrative reforms and the actions will be taken drawing a focal attention to the curriculum development. Within this new process it will be compulsory for the students to attend the school daily and engage in modular activities in the classroom, the minister emphasized. It is also expected to reduce the exams in primary classes as far as possible and to regularize the early childhood teaching and to promote the quality of primary education system through the recruitment of trained graduate teachers as primary teachers, the minister said.
The minister stated this information while participating in a function held at Ginthota Zahira College, Galle.
Further explaining his ideas the minister said that the announcements have been issued these days to recruit 5450 graduates for the subjects like Science, Mathematics, English and Technology and out of that number 1700 will be appointed to national schools in all three media Sinhala, Tamil and English and the approval has been granted for relevant recruitments in Provincial levels for the vacancies created by the teachers going abroad and retiring from the service. This will help to evade the shortage of teachers in the country up to a certain extent. The minister also pointed out that according to the new administrative reforms it will be possible to balance the teacher shortage within the school clusters implementing the new concept of cluster schools. The minister reminded at this occasion about maintaining the school discipline and also said that by next year the process of digitalization of 3000 schools with advanced level subject stream will be finalized.
Furthermore, from the next year high amount of money will be allocated for essential constructions in the schools and it will be possible to finalize the remaining work of the school buildings already started and the construction of essential new buildings such as school laboratories, stated Mr. Susil Premajayantha at this occasion.
