The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that the school text books will be handed over to the students before starting the first school term next year. He said this while starting the distribution of text books to the regional centers from the main store of the Educational Publications Department at Pitipana, Homagama under the program of printing and distribution of school text books related to the year 2024.
The minister further said that he rejects the allegations and false propaganda raised by some people saying that the uniforms are given only to a limited number of students. He further said that the necessary actions are being taken to provide school uniforms and the midday meals sufficiently in the proper time and the expectation is to complete all syllabuses by the end of 2024 and to rectify all educational activities missed during the covid pandemic season and to provide all these physical resources.
It was possible to print the text books with a lower expenditure and within a short period of time compared to the last year and through this it was possible to save 4,000 million rupees for the government, said the minister at this occasion. The State Printing Corporation has come up to the profitable level now and the actions will be taken to improve the standard and capability of it by providing all school text books, exercise books and other government documents to that institution for printing, said the minister. The support and the dedication of all these institutions and staff is a necessary factor in the process of making the educational transformative change a reality within the school system, he said.
