- The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha
The school system must be developed by completing physical resources as well as the human resources and accordingly, new appointments will be given to 7500 teachers from Colleges of Education and also 5,500 graduate teachers who have not exceeded the age of 35 will be recruited shortly for the subjects like Science, Mathematics, Technology, Language, Geography and Commerce in all three languages, said The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha.
The education cannot be developed completing only physical resources and human resources but the discipline of the students is also essential, he said.
Furthermore, the other misconducts like narcotic drugs and bad behaviours prevailing in the society must be prevented not allowing them to come into schools and the unruly habits currently present in the younger generation must be changed specially through attitudinal understanding with religious environment like Pirivena education, was his view.
Further expressing his ideas, the minister said that the Principal must have the freedom for the administration of the school and the unnecessary interference by school development societies and the old pupils associations is not suitable and he never approves such things.
The minister stated these views while attending a meeting at the Ministry of Education.
