A donation of 8,862,990 meters of cloths have been received from the government of China fulfilling the 70% of school uniform requirement in 2023 of this country. The acting Chinese Ambassador of this country Mr. Hu Wei officially handed over that bundle of cloths to The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha today at the Colombo Harbor premises.
Out of that load of cloths that has been cut, packed and labeled to be able to give them directly to the children, a portion of 1/3 has already reached the country and the remaining load is due to reach within a short period of time.
The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha said at this occasion that by 20th of March school uniforms relevant for 2023 study year will be provided to all government and government aided schools and also to 41 hundred thousand children and monks studying in Pirivenas.
At this occasion the acting Chinese Ambassador officially informed the Minister of Education that 10,000 metric tons of rice which were provided partly in several occasions as a donation from the Government of China for the mid-day meal program of the government of this country has been provided completely.
