On the invitation of Patricia Scotland, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, The Minister of Education Dr. Ramesh Pathirana representing Sri Lanka participated online in the 21st conference of the Commonwealth ministers of education last 27th (April 2022) which was held in Nairobi, Kenya.
This time the conference was held on the theme of “After Covid 19, Reawakening, World of Work and the Education for Sustainable Development” and addressing the inaugural session The Minister of Education representing the South Asia delivered a special presentation regarding the education situation in Sri Lanka after the Covid 19 pandemic, challenges, lessons learned and future endeavors.
The education for economic development, rebuilding strongly after covid 19 pandemic and financial crisis, climatic changes, expanding the equal educational opportunities even in the face of unexpected disastrous situations like pandemics, the contemporary need of improving the education system with the power of tolerance and also the measures to be taken for this purpose were discussed at this occasion. The Secretary of Education Professor Kapila C.K. Perera and the Additional Secretary (Policy, Planning and Performance Achievement) Dr. Madura M. Wehella also participated in this online conference.
