The minister of education stated today at the discussion held online through Zoom technology at the ministry of education with the provincial governors that the all necessary arrangements were made expeditiously for conducting the G.C.E. O/L examination which starts today (23rd of May) that was scheduled to be held in 2021.
It was possible to make all necessary arrangements to start the examination on time successfully providing necessary facilities such as providing fuel and transportation needed for the teachers, principals and the staff of the department of examinations after having discussions with the police, tri-forces, petroleum corporation, Ceylon transport board, association of private bus operators and railway department and taking their full support for this purpose. The minister expressed his gratitude to all these institutions for extending their assistance in such a difficult situation.
The minister also expressed that all the activities related to school admissions will be given to the relevant provinces and the ministry of education will dedicate wholly to the decision making on policies and principles. He also discussed further about the policy decisions that will be taken in the future.
The governor of the Uva Province A.J.M. Musammil, The Commissioner General of Examinations Mr. L.M.D. Dharmasena and other officers of the ministry participated in this discussion and the governors of other provinces had joined through online technology.
