The appreciation of the students who sat for 2020 ordinary level examination and received outstanding results at all island level and district level was done at Isurupaya, the ministry of education on 22.11.2021 with the leadership of The Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardana.
Addressing that occasion The Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardana said,
“This is a special and beautiful occasion. A special occasion for the students who studied well and obtained good results and also to the parents, teachers and principals. Thousands of children in our country sit for the ordinary level exam. Our sole aim is to see all of them getting successful results. Some of these children exhibit excellent talents in various fields.
You are a pride for us. All the other children are also a pride for us. The future of our country is in your hands. The free education is your great treasure. Therefore, do not retreat for ever. The most valuable wealth is education named knowledge. Within the education process you are the clever managers. The school is the institution providing it. It becomes a great strength to go for an outstanding future depending on how you use it with your dedication and talent.
Therefore, as the minister of education I appreciate you on behalf of the ministry of education while extending my salute for your extraordinary abilities. This is the budget that allocated highest amount of money for education for sake of forty three hundred thousand school going children just like a great river flowing in the future. You are the most excellent students among the thousands of schools from point Pedro to point Dondre and from west coast to east coast. Take that message of excellence with you to all children. That is the thing our country expects from you. All of you, contribute your knowledge, wisdom and experiences for the future development of our motherland.
Your results are released in a difficult moment in the country. It is a success achieved by the ministry of education. We all including the ministry of education and the state ministries are fully dedicated to nourish the future of our children in the country with knowledge.”
At this occasion two fully blind children and a disabled girl child also were among the appreciated achievers of excellent results.
The members of the education advisory committee of parliament MP Dayamini Gunawardana, Anupa Paskuwal, the secretary of the ministry of education Professor Kapila Perera and the commissioner general of examinations Sanath Pujitha also attended this event.
