The minister expressed this idea today at a media gathering held at the ministry after an
observation tour about the participation and the educational activities at several schools including
Maharagama Buddhist school on the day the schools were opened island wide.
Further expressing his ideas, the minister said…
“Today the schools were opened throughout the country according to the health guidelines with
the participation of a large number of teachers and students. The parents have brought their
children to the schools with much inspiration. We are taking actions to start all schools
methodically for the sake of children. It is a matter for happiness to be able to commence
successfully the work of providing education to thousands of children in this country. The
unfortunate long period of time that avoided the conducting classes in schools due to the covid
pandemic was ended today. The thankfulness and gratitude of the ministry of education is
expressed for the children coming to schools with their parents and participating in classroom
activities in all the provinces from north to south and from east to west throughout the country.
We are thankful again and again for the principals and the teachers for coming to schools and
making this great contribution provided to the future generation of the country for achieving their
goals of free education. We are also thankful to the ministry of health, provincial governors,
zonal directors of education, members of parliament, government departments, and the parents
for their activities and also we would like to mention that the ministry of education is dedicated
to continue the educational activities according to the health regulations in such a way that the
children can continue their education for strengthening and developing their future.
Extend your support to reject the false propaganda carried out by some people. We are thankful
again to the parents who sent their children to schools today and the teachers and the principals
who came to schools for the sake of those children.”
