A special discussion was held on 19.11.2020 at the University Grants Commission with the leadership of The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris for the preparation of a national policy on pre-school education drawing the basic attention to the priorities and special aspects to be given to the pre-school education within the school system of this country.
A nine member committee was appointed at this occasion with the chairpersonship of Rev. Professor Medagoda Sumanathissa Thero with the purpose of further studying of the rough copy that has already been prepared according to the instructions of the experts in the field of primary education and also to take a final decision after scrutinizing the would be revisions in it. Accordingly, that committee is scheduled to meet again on 11.12.2020 with the leadership of the minister of education to take a final decision including the recommendations of the relevant committee.
The State Minister of Women and Child Development, Pre-school and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services Piyal Nishantha, Rev. Professor Medagoda Sumanathissa Thero and several officers from the Ministry of Education, National Institute of Education, Provincial Councils, National Child Secretariat and other number of institutions participated in this occasion.
