A discussion was held recently between The Minister of Education G.L. Pieris and the Acting Ambassador of the Republic of China Mr. Hu Wei about the possible measures to be taken for the development of secondary education and the vocational education in this country.
It was discussed at this occasion about the possibilities of providing the support of the Chinese government for a long term program to implement successfully the measures taken by the ministry of education for the development of education system in Sri Lanka.
The minister of education especially pointed out at this occasion about the support sought from the Chinese government for the development of secondary education and the vocational education within the school education.
It was also discussed at this occasion about the procedures of improving vocational skills for the human resource development aiming at the prioritized developmental activities such as medical productions and tire factory in the proposed industrial and investment zone in Hambanthota District.
It was pointed out here that especially the skills development in the fields of constructions and supplies are required for the purpose of expediting rapidly the developmental projects. The agreement of both sides was expressed with regard to skills development for this purpose and it was also agreed to take immediate steps within the next few months.
The Ambassador of China stated at this occasion that he has a strong wish to work with mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries in order to achieve positive results in these fields.
It was also agreed to have further discussions on this in the future through video conferencing and to maintain a good relationship between the officers of the two countries to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
