The opportunities have been provided for the advanced level students to enter to non- governmental higher education institutions for further studies under the interest free student loan scheme that is implemented in the student loan section of the Ministry of Higher Education. For this purpose the Ministry of Education has taken steps to give 06 days for the students who sat for the advanced level examination in the years 2016,2017 and 2018 as school candidates to get their applications signed by the principals.
Accordingly, the Secretary of Education Mr. N.H.M. Chithrananda has provided instructions to the heads of schools to give opportunity to the students who have passed the advanced level examination in the above years and expect to be admitted to non-governmental education institutions for the 2018/2019 academic year to certify their applications during the school hours on the days 9, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16 of June.
The Ministry of Education has taken this step according to a request made by the Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and New Inventions from the Secretary of Education because many students have been unable to get their applications signed by the principals due to the current situation in the country.
The Ministry of Education further informs that the applications must be certified following all health protection measures prescribed by the health authorities while drawing the attention to the present uncertain situation.
