Proper management is necessary for the conservation of energy which controls the entire world economy

Industrial countries who use the energy arbitrarily causing the climate changes, advocate the affected countries to protect the environment.

-The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha

The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that the main reason for the current war situation prevailing among the countries in the world today is the energy which controls the entire world economy and without a proper management of energy nothing can be done within the present socio-economic system. Therefore, a proper management of energy is essential and the energy must be conserved through it.

The minister stated this while participating in a program of officially launching “Our children saviors of the country – quiz and speech competitions” organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Litro Gas Institution and the occasion of signing the memorandum of understanding with the same institution at the ministry of education.

Expressing further his ideas at this occasion the minister said that the same type of economic crisis that we are facing today, happened in 1973 too. The world wide acceptance for the dollar started when Saudi Arabia the number one oil supplier at that time established the Ramco Institution in America and accepted the American dollar as the trading financial unit. Even Sri Lanka had to face a foreign exchange crisis at that time. At present the foreign exchange problem we had to face through oil and gas queues have been normalizing through the strategies like limiting imports. And also, in line with the increasing foreign deposits, the restrictions imposed on the imports of raw materials and essential food items will be gradually removed, the minister said.

Furthermore, we have to select the most environment friendly pure energy from among the various types of energy sources and the other countries in the world are heading hastily towards it, the minister said. The use of different types of energy has affected climatic changes throughout the world and the worst affect has happened to island countries. The negative effect of using energy cannot be stopped completely but an effort has been taking all over the world to minimize its negative effects. The minister further stated that the industrial countries use the energy as they like burning oil limitlessly and advocate the other countries including the island countries – which are the countries adversely affected by the climatic changes and environmental pollution – to minimize the environmental pollution.

A gathering including the Addl. Secretary Ms. Lalitha Egodawela of the ministry of education and the Director of Trade and Establishment Affairs of the Litro Gas Company Mr. Janaka Pathirana had joined in this occasion.
