The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said to strengthen the investigation division of Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education by filling necessary vacancies completely there and expedite the investigations in order to investigate efficiently the complaints received in connection with the schools.
The Prime Minister stated this as the chairperson of the parliamentary advisory committee of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education which was held yesterday (06) at the committee room number six, while answering the questions raised there.
The third meeting of the parliamentary advisory committee that was appointed by the tenth parliament for the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, was held at the parliament yesterday.
At this occasion the discussions were held about several matters including teacher training and necessary infrastructure development related to education reforms, rectifying the shortcomings prevailing in the schools, reestablish in a permanent location the schools conducted in temporary buildings, providing vocational education opportunities and university admissions to the children with special needs and implementing the policy of appointments and transfers in the teacher, principal and teacher educator services.
The Prime Minister pointed out at this occasion that it is essential to consider about the vacancies as well as the humanitarian needs when providing appointments and when doing transfers and placements it is necessary to do them so as not to occur any issue in the education system. According to the requests made by the members of parliament, as the minister in charge of the subject, the Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said to fill the available vacancies completely in the investigation division of Ministry of Education and to take action to expedite the investigations with transparency.
The relevant chairpersons of the sub-committees appointed for the affairs of education reforms also presented their progress at this occasion.
A gathering including The Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Senevirathna, The Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage, Deputy Secretary of the Parliament Chaminda Kularathna, the Secretary of Ministry of Education Nalaka Kaluwewa and the officers of the ministry were present at this occasion.
