Profile – Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewe

Nalaka Kaluwewe is the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education in Sri Lanka. He began his public service career in 2000 as a member of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and has held various key positions over two decades. These include Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, General Manager of Independent Television Network (ITN) and the National Lotteries Board, Chairman of Rakna Lanka Ltd, Additional Secretary to the President, Director General of Government Information, Additional Election Commissioner, and Director General of the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA).

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Peradeniya, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, and an MBA from the University of Colombo. He also earned a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Management from the University of Canberra, Australia, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration at the University of Colombo.

Recognized for his leadership, he received the Australian Leadership Award in 2009. He is also an alumnus of the Asia Pacific Security Center in Hawaii and the National Defence University in Washington, D.C.
