The aim of proposed new education reforms is to build up an education system full of quality and equality to which all the children can enter and every possible effort will be taken to avoid children becoming dropouts from the education system due to any kind of economic, social or geographical reason, said The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. The Minister expressed this while addressing the discussion held on 29.08.2025 with the Bishop’s Education Advisory Committee of Lanka Sabha Colombo Diocese. 

Further expressing ideas at this occasion, the Prime Minister said,

We try through this education reforms to avoid the children from low-income groups to be ousted unexpectedly from the education system. If the opportunities for education have been obstructed due to various reasons such as health issues, actions will be taken to provide Inclusive Education where all such children can participate. Every possible effort is taken to achieve national education goals through the building of a quality and equitable education where everybody has an access.       

The Bishop’s Education Advisory Committee of Lanka Sabha Colombo Diocese present at this occasion submitted their proposals and ideas for education reforms 2026 and the chairmanship of this committee was held by Rev. Bishop of Colombo Father Dushantha Rodrigo.   

The Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Sevevirathna, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Nalaka Kaluwewa, The Deputy Director General of National Institute of Education Dr. Ashoka De Silva and some other people participated in this event.
