A special discussion was held at the Ministry of Education by The Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya with principals and teachers’ unions with regard to new education reforms. At this occasion an extensive discussion was held about the issues that the principals and teachers’ unions are having about the new education reforms and about the subject modules in new reforms.
And also, it was emphasized the importance of joint cooperation that should be maintained among the institutions like the Ministry of Education, National Institute of Education and National Education Commission and about the development happening in the field education through it.
Further expressing the views, The Prime Minister said, “Changing the disparity prevailing within this education system is a main objective we have. Accordingly, our basic aim is to create a system of education in which all the children can come to an acceptable position through our education system, not only a section of children.”
Furthermore, the ideas and suggestions of the unions of principals and teachers are very important for this new education reforms and it is essential to discuss with all the teachers at district level about new education reforms, said The Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The officers of the Ministry of Education, and the National Institute of Education including the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa and the members of principals and teachers’ unions joined in this occasion.
