The official function was held on 11.09.2025 at the premises of Ministry of Education, Battaramulla to exchange the agreement certificates related to provide total amount of school uniforms required for 4,418,404 school children in government and government assisted schools for the year 2026 as a donation from the government of China. It was held with the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Senevirathna and the Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong.

At this occasion the exchange of the certificate expressing the consent to provide the uniforms necessary for 2026 was happened between the Secretary of Ministry Education Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa and the Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong.

Expressing ideas at this occasion the Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Senevirathna said,  

For the year 2025 also, China donated 11.82 million meters of cloths to Sri Lanka. From that the total national requirement was covered as well as more than 4.6 million students all over the country were directly benefited. This valuable contribution worth more than 5.17 billion Rupees paved the way for all the students from tender age to senior students preparing for national examinations to study with dignity and equality. It must be appreciated for making a same contribution for the year 2026 also.  

Further expressing the ideas, the Deputy Minister said that the immediate response from China about the donation of uniforms for 2026 is a fact reflecting the mutual friendship between the Sri Lankan government and China.

A team of officers from the Chinese Embassy and from the Ministry of Education attended this occasion.
