“The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education appoints a voluntary advisory council.”

Presentation of the appointment letters to the members of voluntary advisory council appointed for the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education upon the necessity of incorporating individuals with diverse experiences from various fields to the education sector with the aim of achieving its expected educational goals by preparing a plan of action according to the policies of new government for developing the education qualitatively, was done by The Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Ministry of Education premises. These appointments were given according to the instructions and guidelines issued by the Presidential Secretariat allowing each minister to get appointed an advisor or a team to assist in taking decisions related to their functions and tasks.    

The following people received their appointment letters as male and female members of this advisory council.

  • Rev. Morakandegoda Ariyawansa Thero – Senior Lecturer, Ruhuna University
  • Professor Kalinga Tudor Silva – Honorary Professor, Peradeniya University
  • Professor Shyamani Hettiarachchi – Professor, Disability Study Section, Medical Faculty, Kelaniya University
  • Mr. Ananda Galappaththi – The Commissioner of the Lancet Commission for child racism and global health
  • Dr. Sengarapille Ariwalahan – Senior Lecturer on Statistics, Jaffna University
  • Dr. Sayuri Ruwanmali Perera – Senior Lecturer on Psychiatry Peradeniya Medical Faculty and Instructor of Psychiatry, Peradeniya Teaching Hospital 
  • Mr. Dhammika Alahapperuma – Chairperson, Lanka Teacher Service Union
  • Mr. Ramindu Perera – Lecturer Sri Lanka Open University
  • Mr. Rathnayaka Karunasiri – retired Director of Education
  • Dr. Y.H. Shashidara De Silva – Resource Person of the national training program of sports medical fitness for Doctors
  • Mr. T. John Quintus – retired Commissioner General of Educational Publications
  • Mr. T.M. Premawardhana – retired Director of Education
  • Dr. Janaka Jayalath – Senior Lecturer, University of Vocational Technology
  • Dr. Wasantha Herath – Sri Lanka Permanent Representative of Asia Pacific Early Childhood Development
