The Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that a vision with a broader meaning is needed for the field of education, going far beyond the providing education targeting at an employment.

The Prime Minister stated this at a discussion held at the Ministry of Education with the officers of Educational Administrative Service who had come back after completing the training session held in India from 8th to 21st of last June for the capacity development of the officers in Educational Administrative Service.

Two officers from each province representing all the provinces in the island had been selected for this training and the Commonwealth Asian Learning Media Center conducted this training program. It is a special condition that the officers in the Educational Administrative Service who are serving in all parts of the island without any foreign training so far, have been selected for this training.

The objective of this program was to utilize the training received in India for the changes that should be done in the field of education in this country and to obtain a quality service from those trained officers for the quality development of education system.

The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education Amal Edirisuriya and the officers representing the Department of Examinations, National Institute of Education and Education Reforms Branch participated in this program organized by the Foreign Agencies and External Affairs Branch of the Ministry of Education.
