Under Secondary Education Sector Improvement Program (SESIP) in 2025, financial allocation of 500 million has been reserved as a school-based donation to purchase equipment and chemicals for the laboratories in type 1AB and type 1C schools throughout the island.

At the moment the Science Section of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education is transferring the relevant allocations to the accounts of school development societies and the reservation of allocations is based on the number of students in the schools.

The maximum amount of money reserved for a school is one million rupees and the minimum amount is 40.000 rupees.   

The objective of this move is the improvement of Science education, to draw more attention to practical activities and the development of infrastructure facilities to make the education reforms successful that will be implemented in the near future.
