‘Do not go to tuition classes to prepare for the teacher examination’

– The Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha says to graduate applicants for teaching appointments.

The Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha says that it is not expected through broad educational transformative process going beyond the education reforms to create a group of people who keep all learned things in mind and go and answer to an examination paper. Therefore, do not get ready to sit for the teacher examination after going to tuition classes.

The minister stated this while participating in the award presentation ceremony of the “National Level Information and Communication Champions – 2021 competition held at the Ministry of Education, expressing his ideas about a notice published informing the tuition classes for the applicants sitting for graduate teacher examination which is scheduled to be held in next March. The minister mentioned at this occasion that the persons intending to serve as teachers must have competencies to think and understand something quickly and respond accordingly such as solving a simple mathematical problem and answering a general question. Creating a generation of children empowered with competencies cannot be done by a group of people who seek the help of tuition classes even for sitting the exam held to recruit the teachers. The necessity of a broad educational transformative process is clearly emphasized by this kind of happenings, he said.

This selection examination is not a highly competitive difficult exam that is scheduled to be held by the Department of Examinations for the graduates in the state service as development officers who wish to join as teachers and therefore, we expect that these applicants would go to the examination hall and face the test with self-confidence without participating unnecessarily in tuition classes, the minister further stated at this occasion.
