It has been decided to postpone the deadline until 30th June 2020 for Calling applications to register for National Information Technology Champions Competition that is conducted for the 12th time by the Information and Communication Technology Branch of the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Sri Lanka Information Technology Industrial Board, Sri Lanka Computer Society and the Computer Learning Center of the University of Colombo. Accordingly, the date for receiving the creations for this competition has been extended till 31st of July.
This competition is implemented in 03 sections and the National Level School Software Competition is held by Sri Lanka Computer Society while the ‘Creative Teachers’ competition is conducted by the Ministry of Education. The Young Computer Scientists Competition is conducted by Sri Lanka Information Technology Industrial Board.
The students in grades 6 to 11 can apply under the first category of School Software Competition and the students in grades 12 and 13 can apply under the second category. This is an online competition. In this competition the competitors have to produce computer programs and the evaluations are also done online.
The teachers confirmed in their service and working in government and government approve private schools and also the trainee teachers in the Colleges of Education can apply for the competition ‘Creative Teachers’.
The Young Computer Scientists Competition is conducted for school children under two main fields. The winners of this competition will receive bursaries for following degrees in reputed private universities, the opportunity to participate in international APICTA competition and the conference held in Malaysia, the opportunity to submit their creations to INFOTEL ASIA – 2020 exhibition, the opportunity to expose their creations through national and international media and also the opportunity to receive the knowledge, assistance and contribution of the experts in the field of Information Technology.
