The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris joined in an observation tour at Bolawalana BCI Green University and also had a discussion with Archbishop Rev. Father Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
The students have the opportunity to study several courses in the field of information technology including software development, designing web programs and software engineering science in the BCI green university which is functioning with the approval of University Grants Commission. The minister stated at this occasion that in addition to the present degree courses the steps must be taken in the future to introduce new degree programs directly contributing to the economic development of the country.
BCI green university has created its premises in an eco-friendly way by working entirely with solar power. The minister further pointed out that it is a need of the era to modernize the degree courses to suite the process of economic development and must be connected with the students’ future employment opportunities and also the present mismatch between the new job market and many educational courses must be removed.
