– The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris
All schools in the island are opened for educational activities on Monday 29th of this month (29.03.2021) for all grades and along with it all the pre-schools are also opened, said The Minister of Education Professor G.L. Peiris. The minister said this while addressing a media discussion held to inform the cabinet decisions at the State Information Department, Polhengoda.
Further expressing his ideas at this occasion the minister said,
At the moment, only the grades 5, 11 and 13 are functioning in schools in the three districts Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara in the western province. But now we believe that a fitting situation has arisen to start the other classes also. We have already received the recommendations of the Director General of Health in this regard.
All the schools in other parts of the country have already been opened for educational activities in all grades. The parents and the children have a tremendous need for opening the schools as soon as possible. The reason for that is the condition of the children becoming stressed while confined to their homes as well as missing their studies. It is a compulsory thing to stop this situation and start the activities in schools. Therefore, all the schools in the country will be opened on 29th of March for study purposes, he said.
The Minister of Information and Mass Media Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella and The State Minister Vijitha Berugoda also attended to this occasion.
