The training of 100 selected teachers of English in Galle district under the English smart classes project which has been prepared using the modern technology with the aim of promoting English language skills of school children was held at the district auditorium.
A gathering including the secretary of education Professor Kapila Perera, the media secretary of the ministry of education Mr. Buddhika Wikramadara, the director of Brandix Institution (East) Mr. Senthil Easwaran and Mr. Laurence Winsent had joined in this occasion which was held with the leadership of The Minister of Plantations Ramesh Pathirana,
Under this program which was started island wide since last year actions have been taken to provide smart classes to 200 schools in the southern province. The Brandix Institution provides the sponsorship for this seasonable program in collaboration with the ministry of education. These English smart classes are functioning through an internet application named Read to Me prepared with reference to the textbooks in the curriculum from grade 03 to grade 08 in the schools.
The Right to Read institution expects to implement this program covering all the schools in this country by the year 2022.
