The G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination held continuously from 12 th of October in 2648 exam centers throughout the country for 3,62824 students while facing the challenging environment emerged in the country due to second phase of spreading covid pandemic is ended today (06 th
November). The subjects of Communication and Media Study, Greek and Roman Civilization and Advanced Mathematics of the advanced level examination are held today and nearly 35,000 students are sitting for those subjects. When the advanced level exam was started this time nine students sat for the exam while spending a quarantine period due to covid infection and gradually the number of students set for quarantine was increased up to 568. Covid contacted 27 students in IDH hospital, one student in Panagoda Army Hospital and one student in Mulleriyawa hospital sat for the exam while undergoing residential treatment. Specially, 12 extra exam centers were functioned for the students in Minuwangoda, Gampaha, Ja-ela, Seeduwa and Ekala areas. A tremendous support
was received from the examiners and other sections to conduct the exam in those areas and for the hospitalized students. Maximum support was received from all health sectors to conduct the examination following
complete health protection methods in all examination centers. Furthermore, a comprehensive support was provided by the officers and all other members of transport sector for the students to come to exam centers.
The Ministry of Education and the Department of Examinations extend their sincere thanks to Sri Lanka Transport Board and the Railway Department for assisting the transportation of students sitting for the exam throughout the island and the quarantine curfew enforced areas, all the
officers in medical and health sectors for providing complete assistance to ensure the health security, the entire staff engaged in exam duties including exam supervisors, all principals and the teachers, all parents who took a challenging decision for their children in the current situation
and made the exam mentality of the children to be a better one while completely trusting the decision taken by the government to conduct the examination without postponing it and to all media institutions.
