Development of infrastructure of Schools, NCOE, TC etc. since 2015

Development of education infrastructure described particularly under two types of programs; 1) Nearest School is the Best School (NSBS) Program and 2) Annual Budget (AB). 

1.Nearest School is the Best School (NSBS) Program
The concept of “Nearest School is the Best School” has emerged from the Policy Statement of Education of the present government with the aim of providing equal opportunities in education for every child and creation of a child imbued with virtues, wisdom and vigour.
Under this program which was commenced in 2016, 7,887 Provincial Schools and 280 National Schools have been selected to develop both human resources and physical infrastructure. The total allocation for physical infrastructure is about Rs. 54 Billion for four years 2016- 2019. It is proposed to build Classrooms, Technical buildings, Junior Secondary Laboratories, Teacher Quarters, Principal Quarters, Primary Learning Resource Centers, Toilets and Sanitary Facilities, Water Supply Systems, Electricity Supply etc. and carry out repairs to buildings aiming to filling the gap between number of items calculated according to the norms and existing facilities (i.e. a toilet for 50 students, an Ordinary Level Laboratory for 500 students etc.)
2.Annual Budget (AB)
From the Annual Budget allocations from 2015, 451 schools, 19 NCOEs, 7 Teacher Colleges, 101 Teachers centers, Pirivena will be developed. This includes new constructions such as Classrooms, Technological Faculties, Laboratories, Toilets and Sanitary Facilities, Water Supply Systems, Electricity Supply etc. and repairs to buildings. The total allocation received from Annual Budget for these years is about Rs.22 Billion.
