While expressing his ideas at this occasion the minister said that a number of objections were raised when 3880 school sports trainers were appointed. There were several issues such as some provincial councils did not accept these trainers when the vacancies were filled on account of their disagreement and the payment of their salaries was also an issue. Some people raised baseless allegations and started mud sling over social media but it is a pleasure to be able to complete these appointments for the advancement of sports under the Ministry of Education. The minister extended his thanks to the Prime Minister, the officers of the ministry and the Ministry of Finance for their support to achieve this task.

Further expressing his views, the minister said that these sports trainers must try their best to upgrade their knowledge continuously as they have been trained for all sports.

The minister further stated that all the trainers must determine to perform with perseverance in order to create national and international level sportsmen and women for mother Sri Lanka. The immediate measures will be taken to provide foreign trainings for the high scorers among the sports trainers, the minister said. These trainers are scheduled to assume their duties at their assigned schools today (18).
