Kelaniya University joins with the Ministry of Education to empower the e-learning process

kel1Special attention of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has been drawn towards the combination of digital learning technology with the school education system in order to create a generation of excellent teachers who are capable of encountering modern technical challenges successfully and also able to contribute actively to achieve the quality of education.

Under this scheme steps have been taken to activate several e-learning activities including the preparation of creative digital education programs, creating digital learning aids so as to generate a productive e-learning environment within the schools through the Information and Communication Technology and the training of teachers for this purpose.

The steps have been taken to obtain the necessary assistance of the relevant resource persons and the digital facilities with help of the University of Kelaniya.

Accordingly it is expected to use the National E-learning Resource Center (NELRC) of the new Faculty of Computer Technology built in last year in the University of Kelaniya for creating these digital learning programs and the training of relevant teachers.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding in relation to this between the Ministry of Education and the University of Kelaniya was happened recently at the Ministry of Education.
A gathering including the Secretary of Education Mr. Sunil Hettiarachchi from the Ministry of Education and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya Professor D.M. Semasingha had joined in this occasion.
