Calling applications for the “Scholarship Program for the Gifted” introduced for encouraging the students with outstanding talents

schoCalling applications was started yesterday for the “Scholarship Program for the Gifted” that has been introduced by the ministry of education for encouraging the students with outstanding talents in the fields of sports, arts and new inventions. This is a concept of The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and implemented under the budget proposals of 2017. This scholarship program has been implemented with the aim of creating a generation of children with the potential to face the future challenges. It is expected to improve such qualities of the gifted children and to encourage them for maximizing those qualities in order to contribute to the development of the country through this program. These scholarships will be provided under three sections of new inventions, aesthetic activities and sports.

The steps have been taken to pay the scholarships worth of Rs.50,000.00 in 20 equal installments for a period of 20 months to 1000 students who have exhibited special talents in the secondary education level since the year 2017 and starts the advanced level education in grade 12 in the relevant year.
